Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre
A Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre has recently been constructed at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC), to further develop the venue as a Centre for Sporting Excellence.The new facility compliments and expands upon the Queensland Academy of Sport's (QAS) training facilities and is predominantly used by QAS athletes and elite sports training squads for physiotherapy, injury treatment and rehabilitation.
The $10 million facility was completed in early 2008 allowing time for the QAS's Olympic athletes to incorporate the services as part of their training programs in the lead up to the Beijing Olympics in late August 2008.
The facility includes:
- Medical support facilities which includes a four bed physiotherapy room, stretch area, consultation rooms and an examination room;
- A four person meeting room and a ten person meeting room (for team discussions on treatment therapies;
- Male & female change/shower facilities,
- Wet therapy area including 12 person hot & cold plunge pools, 6 person sauna, showers & two ice baths,
- A two bed dry therapy facility with consultation area,
- 25m cross training pool with an adjacent storage area
